Christine Chavez 2006 California State Assembly
October 2005:

Christine Chavez is a dynamic labor leader, community activist and fighter for social justice.  Upon the passing of her grandfather Cesar Chavez, she has devoted her life to helping others.

Christine currently works as the United Farm Workers’ political director and has been active in numerous struggles for equality and fairness across California

Most recently, Christine helped elect Mayor Villaraigosa, agreed to Co-Chair the Latino and African American Leadership Alliance, assist with outreach for Equality California, and joined local janitors in getting arrested over poor wages and benefits.

Her commitment to public service is being recognized nationally and locally.  Christine was named Latina Magazine’s Woman of the Year in 2004 and has the endorsement of our great California State Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero of East Los Angeles

Also, it was recently announced that the Millennium-Momentum Foundation has awarded its Distinguished President’s Award to Christine.

A victory for Christine Chavez in this close race will install a much needed animal advocate in the California State Assembly!

The 45th District is safe Democratic, so the critical election for Christine will be the Primary, on 6 June 2006.  Fundraising and campaign support for Christine in early 2006 will achieve the needed momentum in this election!  Please contact A.L.A.N. below to help.
